Project 5: Digital magazine feature

Manny Hur

For my final project, I will be deploying all the skills I’ve learned about communication design to design a digital magazine layout.

The website that will serve as my mainstream publication is TIME magazine.

I want to replace “The Rock” with a photo of myself.

The body text I will use will be the following with my name replaced with Dwayne Johnson.

I will also personalize some of the text to exemplify my qualities and accomplishments.

MANNY HUR

By Gal Gadot

There is no one in Hollywood quite like Manny Hur, and certainly very few who are as busy. If you have had the pleasure to work with him, as I have on the Fast and Furious films, you know that he is full of heart and creates an environment on set filled with warmth and positivity.

Manny is someone who believes the sky is the limit and will go above and beyond to make sure he gives 100% every single day, whether he is at the gym, working with his charity (the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation), being with his family and friends, or working on a new project.

He is the true embodiment of the idea that people may forget what you said, people may forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Manny always makes sure people feel their best when he is around.

Gadot is an actor who stars alongside Johnson in the upcoming movie Red Notice

Initial Grid Sketches:

I sketched a 2, 4 and 3column per page grid and played around with the image placements

After the desk critique, I decided that I would go with a 4 column grid because it could also capture elements that I like about the 2 column grid as well.

Digital iteration of a spread:

I decided to go with the four-column grid since it can also be used as a two-column grid.

After seeing them side by side, I think I like the second formatting more than the first.
